to the Editor and Chief

Dear chief and editor:
My name is Demira Smith. I am a
sophomore at Early College High School in Conway, SC.
The problem I would like to address is
molestation. Almost everyday events
occur behind closed doors without anyone knowing. We are unaware of what
thoughts and feelings that goes through the head of those who were victimized.
Why me? How come? What did I do? Runs through many of their heads wandering and
anxious for an answer to why it happened. These types of things such as rape
and sexual molestation happen every day, that’s why we all as a society should
come together and fix also stop the oncoming occurrences of sexual molestation.
Thank you so much for your time. I
appreciate your help and hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Demira Smith

American controversy on Abortion
Everyday our African Americans societies struggle with
various hardships of life. Poverty, higher death rates, low income, sickness,
and economics are all common in the black community, issue such as investments
and loans, and imprisonment. We all as a society share these issues Caucasians,
African Americans, Asian, Latinos; and any other race in the world. But when it
comes to one isolated topic such as abortion, out of all races African
Americans were chosen. We are bashed, we are targeted, but most importantly we
are humiliated. To think that today’s society has changed so much from back
then , in a way it seems that we took a step a forward and then were pushed five
steps back on such a topic. And on a subject so common in the U.S, it hurts so
much to that we, African Americans are earmarked out of every single ethnic
group In the united states of America.
An article
recently released and started a controversy on African Americans .As stated in
the article “Billboard focused on African Americans abortion was taken down
“focused on an ethnic group obviously African Americans. It exhibits and
portrays “supposedly” how a billboard that stated (para.4) .The most dangerous
place for and African – American is in the womb” raises awareness. Bu the
question is how? A spokesman by the name
of Mary Alice Carr of Prochoice America claimed “ They’re attacking women for
choosing abortion while simultaneously destroying family planning”.As explained
little do they know women go through day to day to prevent pregnancies, and
there reasons reason for abortion. Also stated by Carr , “ The issue is
here they are doing a campaign,
targeting a group of women to make them feel guilty and shameful about family
choices”. But do they target he other ethnics races such as the Caucasian,
Hispanics, or Asian? I mean don’t get me wrong I’m not saying it in a mean way
, I’m just stating how I feel. But don’t we all experience this?
It every day these things happen in our city, towns, or
happen community to everyone. And I mean
everyone. But now as individuals we have to step up and explore and learn about
thing that interest us. And as a young teen in America’s society I plan on
finishing my research as to why African Americans are targeted on the issue of
abortion.

COLORED STATISTIC OF ABORTION
Is it because of their low income?
Or living on section A all their lives.
Despite the births of a child based upon
her lies.
Maybe it’s those full lips she know they
might have
Or heritage of genes from someone of the
past.
The young girl’s baby’s father is locked
behind bars.
She receives help from no one.
Her parents don’t love her.
They would rather show her how life was
when they were young.
Struggling to maintain her image, she
misinterprets.
But now confesses to the preacher’s
sermon.
For one day to move out the hood.
For a life that was beyond, greater
goods
She stopped trying to get an education.
And instead fell for the dope boys’
compensation.
Trying to out shine her friend’s social
life.
Here she lies underneath the knife.
Or rape just like her grandmother.
When she worked in the fields.
To be constantly whipped or even worst
KILLED.
Another statistic is what she is called.
A dark hole, in which she is hauled.
Drugged with medicine
She prepares to strip away, a life of an innocent.
Patiently she waits to rethink her options.
She says “a child of color wouldn’t have a home if given up for adoption”
She sits in a chair, legs spread open.
In a gown soon to be painted red.
Doctor says “for a woman of your color the child is better off dead”.
Eyes closed the feeling of guilt and chill rattles
up her spine.
Toes curled in fear of losing another life.
All she feels is cold hands inside of her.
Grabbing at her used to be innocence.
A stick of a needle and her mind runs crazy.
Another official statistic of an aborted colored baby.
